چکیده

In a multi-user production cluster there is no control over the intra-cluster communication patterns, which can cause unanticipated hot spots to occur in the cluster interconnect. In a multistage interconnect a common side effect of such a hot-spot is the roll-over of the saturation to other areas in the interconnect that were otherwise not in the direct path of the primary congested element. This paper investigates the effects of treesaturation in the interconnect of the AC Velocity cluster, which is a multistage interconnect constructed out of 40 GigaNet switches. The main congestion control mechanism employed at the GigaNet switches is a direct feedback to the traffic source, allowing for fast control over the source of the congestion, avoiding the spread from the congestion area. The experiments reported are designed to examine the effects of the congestion control in detail.

A Simple Power Consumption Model of CMOS Buffers Briving RC Interconnect Lines

We present a simple and accurate model to compute the power dissipated in sub-micron CMOS buffers driving RC interconnect lines. The expression obtained accounts for the main effects in current sub-micron CMOS technologies as carrier velocity saturation effects, input-output coupling capacitor, output load, input slew time, device sizes and interconnect resistance. Results are compared to HSPIC...

Enhanced Contour Control of SCARA Robot Under Torque Saturation Constraint

Contour control of a robot arm is an act of the end-effector tip being moved along a reference Cartesian path, with an assigned velocity. When torque saturation occurs, and lasts for some time, contour deteriorations result. In addition, system delay dynamics also causes contour deteriorations. In this paper, an offline trajectory generation algorithm is described, which achieves both optimum a...

Dissipation Effects in the Ratchetlike Fermi Acceleration

Ac-driven asymmetric pulses can be used to control the Fermi acceleration between three different motions, A: the accelerated mode, D: the decelerated mode, and H: the hyperaccelerated mode. In this paper we show that dissipation strongly affects the particles velocity, reducing the possibility for an accurate control of the dynamics. The saturation time, where the mean velocity starts to be co...

Path Following and Velocity Optimizing for an Omnidirectional Mobile Robot

In this paper, the path following controller of an omnidirectional mobile robot (OMR) has been extended in such a way that the forward velocity has been optimized and the actuator velocity constraints have been taken into account. Both have been attained through the proposed model predictive control (MPC) framework. The forward velocity has been included into the objective function, while the a...

Angular Velocity Saturation in Planar Dust Cluster Rotation

Dust clusters, consisted of one up to twelve particles arranged in a horizontal plane, were formed in an inductively coupled rf plasma. When an axial magnetic field was applied to the dust clusters, the clusters rotate collectively in the left-handed direction with respect to the field. It was observed in our cluster rotation that, for single ring cluster, the angular velocity of the rotation i...
